From February to May, Palma fills with bikes. Pro teams on training camps, cycle tourists from northern Europe and groups here to ride the Serra de Tramuntana turn the city into European cycling’s base camp. And in Mallorca, cycling and coffee are inseparable — a good part of Palma’s café scene grew up around the bike.
What many riders work out late: Santa Catalina is right on the route. The neighbourhood runs down towards the Paseo Marítimo and the marina, where almost every ride west and north begins and ends.
The opening hours work in your favour
We open daily from 9:00 to 15:00, which is exactly the cyclist’s window:
· 9:00 — before setting off. For mid-morning routes, or for anyone starting unhurried.
· 13:00–15:00 — coming back. When most groups roll down off the Tramuntana and need to refuel properly.
The menu is built for both ends: real carbs, protein and honest sugar. Oat pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon, avo toast, Greek yoghurt with granola, freshly squeezed juices and the day’s pastry, baked in the windmill.
A 17th-century windmill with a terrace, minutes from the marina. There is no better place to lean a bike.
Where we are, and why it fits
SĀNTAL occupies a restored 17th-century windmill at Carrer de la Indústria 15, in the heart of Santa Catalina, awarded a Repsol Guide Solete 2025. There’s a terrace — key when you’d rather not bring a damp jersey into a closed room — and a generous indoor space when the morning turns cool.
It’s a step from the Mercat de Santa Catalina and a few minutes’ roll from the Paseo Marítimo, so it slots into the way out or the way back without a detour.
Groups and teams
If you’re riding with a big group — and in season nearly everyone is — let us know ahead. We do tailored buffet brunch for groups of 8 to 28 with 7 days’ notice, which settles a whole peloton without anyone waiting half an hour for a plate.
For cycling hotels, clubs and training-camp organisers, the windmill can be booked exclusively for team breakfasts or lunches. Arrange it through the reservations page.
Palma’s cycling café scene
Worth knowing the full circuit: Rapha Mallorca has a terrace on Plaça del Rosari and is the classic meeting point; Plumo, on Plaça Quadrado, rents and services bikes alongside seriously good coffee; and Reverb pairs a large open workshop with a café.
Those are coffee stops. Ours is the other moment: when you’ve come down off the Tramuntana and what you need is to sit down and eat properly, not an espresso standing up.
