Vegan and gluten-free in Palma: what is actually on the menu.

Not "options available". The dishes, by name, with their price — and the honest limits of a kitchen that is not exclusively plant-based.

The short answer. Two dishes at SĀNTAL are named vegan on the menu — the Vegan Sandwich at 13.50 € and the Vegan Cookie at 3.80 € — plus the beetroot hummus and the mango and mint salad, which are plant-based without the label. Gluten-free bread is a 2 € swap on any toast. Almond and oat milk are 0.50 € on the coffee. Carrer de la Indústria 15, Santa Catalina, every day 9:00 to 15:00.

What is plant-based, by name

DishPriceWhat it is
Vegan Sandwich13,50 €Focaccia with beetroot hummus, cucumber pickles, greens, sun-dried tomato tapenade and sprouts. Named vegan on the menu.
Vegan Cookie3,80 €Oat and blueberry. Baked in the kitchen each morning. Named vegan on the menu.
Beetroot Hummus11,00 €With pita bread and carrot and cucumber crudités. Plant-based, though not labelled as such.
Fresh Mango & Mint Salad14,00 €Rocket and lamb's lettuce with quinoa, cucumber, avocado, toasted almonds and a lemon-ginger dressing.

We are being precise on purpose. Two of these carry the word vegan on the printed menu; the other two are made of plants but we have not certified them as vegan, so we are not going to write that they are.

The swaps, and what they cost

Swap or extraPriceOn what
Gluten-free bread+2,00 €Swaps the sourdough on any toast.
Almond or oat milk+0,50 €On any coffee.
Avocado+2,50 €
Beetroot hummus+2,00 €
Grilled cherry tomatoes+2,00 €
Mango+2,00 €
Peanut butter+2,00 €

The gluten-free swap works on any of the toasts — avo toast, iberian toast, the scrambled eggs — so most of the brunch section opens up with it.

What we cannot promise

This is a small kitchen in a seventeenth-century windmill, not a dedicated gluten-free facility. Bread, pastry and everything else share the same space, and the pastry counter is flour from eight in the morning. If you avoid gluten by choice, the 2 € swap does the job. If you are coeliac, or have a nut allergy, book instead of walking in — 72 hours ahead, and write it in the comments. That gives the kitchen time to plan rather than improvise at half past twelve on a Sunday.

The same goes for the set formats: Build your brunch at 22 € and the online booking at 25 € can both be assembled plant-based. Say so when you order and we build it around what works.

A vegan brunch, priced out

Vegan Sandwich 13.50 € + Vegan Cookie 3.80 € + a cortado with oat milk 2.90 € = 20.20 €. Lighter: beetroot hummus with pita 11 € + an americano with almond milk 3.50 € = 14.50 €. For the whole menu with every price, see what brunch costs in Palma.

Frequently asked questions

Is there vegan brunch in Palma de Mallorca?

Yes. At SĀNTAL, Carrer de la Indústria 15 in Santa Catalina, two items are named vegan on the menu: the Vegan Sandwich at 13.50 € — focaccia with beetroot hummus, pickles, greens, sun-dried tomato tapenade and sprouts — and the Vegan Cookie at 3.80 €, oat and blueberry. The beetroot hummus with pita at 11 € and the fresh mango and mint salad at 14 € are plant-based too.

Is there gluten-free bread?

Yes. Gluten-free bread is a 2 € swap on any toast, listed as an extra on the menu. It is not a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, so if you are coeliac rather than avoiding gluten by choice, tell us when you book and we will tell you what we can do that day.

Can I get oat or almond milk in the coffee?

Yes, almond or oat, 0.50 € on top of the coffee. A cortado with oat milk works out at 2.90 €, a flat white at 4.20 €.

How much does a vegan brunch cost in Palma?

Around 17 to 19 € per person at SĀNTAL: the Vegan Sandwich at 13.50 €, the Vegan Cookie at 3.80 € and a coffee with plant milk from 2.50 €. The set 'Build your brunch' at 22 € can be assembled with plant-based choices, and the online booking at 25 € per person works the same way — say it in the comments field.

Do I need to book?

No, for up to 7 people you walk in, any day from 9:00 to 15:00. If you have a coeliac diagnosis or a nut allergy it is worth booking anyway, 72 hours in advance, and writing it in the comments: it gives the kitchen time to plan rather than improvise at 12:30 on a Sunday.
