The lunch problem in Palma
The menú del día is an institution in Mallorca. Three courses, bread, water, coffee, and a dessert that often lands you 90 minutes at the table. For people working in Santa Catalina, El Jonquet, or those passing through Palma on a tight schedule, that format doesn't always fit. The default becomes a counter sandwich or skipping lunch.
At SĀNTAL we bet on a third option: quality lunch, in the right portion, in 30 minutes if you're leaving quickly — or in 90 minutes if you're staying to read. This is the honest guide for each case.
Five dishes broken down
1. Quinoa salad
Warm cooked quinoa, seasonal vegetables (in May: cherry tomato, cucumber, grated carrot, greens), avocado, toasted seeds, and a lemon-olive oil dressing. Complete plant-based plate. Filling without being heavy. Ideal before a meeting because it doesn't make you sleepy. Approx. €11-13.
2. Iberian toast
Sourdough bread, grated tomato in the Catalan style, cured Iberian ham, extra-virgin olive oil. Product. Four ingredients, zero mystery. The "eat well without thinking" option for the person in a hurry. Comes out fast. Approx. €9-11.
3. Pastrami sandwich
House-cured pastrami, Dijon mustard, pickles, lightly toasted bread. More substantial than the Iberian toast — if you have a gym session at 18:00, this is your fuel. If you have a presentation meeting at 15:30, better skip it (it sits heavy). Approx. €13-15.
4. Soup of the day
Rotates with the season: winter pumpkin soup, carrot-ginger soup, roasted tomato soup. Summer: gazpacho. Served with toasted bread. The lightest option on the menu. Ideal on hot days or before a heavy dinner. Approx. €8-10.
5. SĀNTAL bowl
Base of brown rice or quinoa, protein (grilled chicken, smoked salmon or marinated tofu), roasted vegetables, hummus, sprouts and the dressing of the day. A complete plate in a single bowl. For the person who comes to work and wants to eat without ordering several plates. Approx. €13-15.
Eating well at lunchtime in Palma doesn't mean eating little. It means eating right.
Combos suggested by situation
The afternoon-meeting combo
Quinoa salad + water + a cortado at the end. You leave without sleepiness and without that heavy-digestion feeling. Table time: 30-40 min.
The Monday post-gym combo
Pastrami sandwich + carrot soup + sparkling water. Protein, slow carb and liquid. Good recovery after a workout. Table time: 45 min.
The first-date combo
SĀNTAL bowl to share + iberian toast on the side + a glass of Mallorcan white wine (yes, we have a short midday wine list). It carries conversation, doesn't rush you, doesn't stain. Table time: 60-90 min.
The hot-day combo
Gazpacho + quinoa salad + cold water. If you want something sweet to finish, iced tea or frozen yoghurt. Table time: 40 min.
Opening hours and reservations
We serve lunch from 12:30 to 15:30 Monday to Friday. On weekends it blends with brunch. The menu is always the same — no traditional menú del día. That's on purpose: you want to know what you're ordering before you sit.
For 1-3 people no booking needed. For groups of 4+ or to secure the corner table (the one with patio view), best to message us on WhatsApp 30 minutes ahead. We also do takeaway if you want to take it back to the office or to the park.
What you won't find here
We don't do greasy burgers, we don't do tourist paella, we don't serve gas-station combination plates. If you're after a cheap fill-up combo, there are 10 options within 5 minutes. What we do is good produce in correct portions, with an open kitchen so you see what happens to your plate.
If you're coming several days in a row, the menu has enough variety to avoid repeats. And if you have dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free), tell us when you order — the kitchen adapts without fuss. For breakfast and weekend brunch, here's how the terrace works.
